Botgado for Expats ("Botgado", "we", "us") is an AI assistant that answers Costa Rica paperwork and immigration questions, operated by Blacksheep Marketing. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

1. Information we collect

Account information you give us when you sign up: first and last name, email address, country, age, and phone number.
Your conversations: the questions you ask and the answers the assistant gives, so your chat history is available to you.
"Connect with a professional" requests: when you choose to be matched with a professional, the description of your situation and the contact details you provide.
Authentication data if you sign in with Google or Microsoft (your name and email from that provider).
Basic technical data needed to run the service securely.

2. How we use your information

To provide the assistant and generate answers to your questions.
To keep your account and chat history.
To match you with a qualified professional only when you request it.
To maintain the security and reliability of the service.

3. AI processing

To generate answers, the text of your questions is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it solely to return a response. We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that make Botgado work:

Supabase — secure database, authentication, and hosting of your account and conversations.
Anthropic — AI processing to generate answers.
Netlify — hosting of the website.
Resend — sending the team an internal notification when you submit a "Connect with a professional" request.

If we ever match you with a professional, we share only the details needed for that introduction, and only because you asked us to.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, conversations, messages, and connect requests are permanently removed from our database.

6. Your rights

Access & correction: view and edit your information any time from your profile page.
Deletion: delete your account and all associated data yourself from your profile ("Delete my account"), or by emailing us.

7. Security

Your data is stored on managed, access-controlled infrastructure with row-level security so that you can only access your own records. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. Children

Botgado for Expats is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Informational guidance, not legal advice

Botgado provides general informational guidance about Costa Rican administrative processes. It is not a substitute for individualized legal advice. For complex or sensitive cases we will point you to a qualified professional or official channel.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will update the date at the top when we do.
